Memoirs of an attendee
It was a really nice day out, warm but not too sunny with the sea breeze blowing softly and the waves lapping gently ashore. The reunion group spread out across the center beachfront directly in front of the Groovy Grouper beach bar and grill the ideal location to facilitate beach-service for some heavenly vegetable-stuffed steamed fish with fried bammy, fresh tropical fruit salad, chicken strips, burgers with fries, ice cold sodas and frosted lemonades with cherry on top.
On the beach, the sun-bathers lay out their towels while sea-bathers went swimming, snorkeling by the jetty or racing to the infamous donut-shaped floats. Kids played in the surf with Splash Bomb balls and Frisbees or dug holes and made castles in the sand. Sun-shy attendees sat under beach umbrellas or set themselves up with food, music and friends at the beach bar's shaded tables. As more new people arrived, the excitement of seeing additional schoolmates continued.
Reggae tunes wafted across the beach, and we were entertained by a few hefty Montegonian ladies who gave us samples of their dancehall talents and prowess. This triggered questions of Sean Paul's attendance at the upcoming Alumni Dance. So, will Sean Paul really be there tonight? I heard he had a show in Florida a few weeks ago. Yes, he's touring, but should be here in the next few weeks for Sumfest It's good he's getting work all over. So what year was he at Belair? Who knows him, really? In the end, the questions were never actually answered but anticipation mounted.
Sun-drenched and seawater-pruned we left the beach to rest up for the Alumni Dinner & Dance. (Yeah, need nuff resting when on vacation)
