Up in Vancouver, Canada, we have been kept informed, with relief efforts already underway via The Royal Bank of Canada. Our thoughts are with you all. Although I did not attend Belair, I had many friends who did. Recently, while reading the BSAA's Guestbook, I came upon one such friend, Brian Mack. It's been great connecting again after more than three decades! Now I'm wondering about other friends..anybody know Linda Fisher and Sue Johnson (& brother)? Any links greatly appreciated. Simon Gunn PS I recall my mother, Adrien Gunn RCA, taught (Art) at Belair between 1969 - 1971. She always loved the creativity of her students. |

We still care about our friends and what may be happening in their lives. We have created memories that can never be erased. Life is too short for us to hold grudges, be depressed and to worry. None of these things can change any outcome. So let us continue to show that we care for others; show support in challenges and most importantly lend a helping hand if we can. Those students of the late 1970's to early '80's may remember Sonia and Bobby Chantrelle, if you weren't lucky enough to actually share a class room (I was, shared Mrs. Van Horne in Grade 5 with Bobby). Their father passed away on Tuesday, May 22nd and the funeral is this Saturday, June 2nd, at Webster Memorial Church, 53 Half-Way Tree Road, Kingston, at 1 pm. One of my most dramatic memories while I was at prep school (30 years ago) was learning that Sonia and Bobby's mother passed away. Well, subsequently Mr. Chantrelle had remarried and lived with his wife Monica in Kingston. Sonia and her husband Brian Wynter, have two daughters, Emma and Eva. They live in Kingston, as do Robert and his wife Samantha, and their daughter and son, Nyah and Zen. I spoke with Sonia today, and she expressed how grateful she is that her father had a fulfilled life and they were able to celebrate together. Putting myself in his shoes for a brief flashback, I imagine seeing children grow, graduate from University, marry and raise children of their own and have careers is cause for celebration. Sonia's email is swynter@cwjamaica.com |

Melony was one a dem people who you just had to like. She always had something nice to say, unfortunately I can only pen these nice things down & not tell her face to face. Makes me really realise the need to value people & to know who are truly your friends. Distance can never & should never be the demise/downfall of friendships, so - Candice, Yvette, Joan, Mernel, Damion, Richie, Scooby, Olano, Damani, George, Roger, Lisa, Gail, Tanya, Paul (curly hair), Albert, Keisha Lyttle, Leslie, Ruel, Michelle an all whooffa name no mention, Belair fostered & embedded friendships of all shapes, forms, colours & sizes....u no find dem very often. So from me 2 u, whilst we all strive to be successful lets aspire to be of more value, aspire to be more humane, teach our children to love more and respect more, this ultimately defines our true worth. Mernel, God has his plan for all, he knows best, he is the AUTHOR. As your friends, we're here for you. Cll on us & we'll be there. |
