Keisha,
Perhaps I was a little hasty in firing-off what I wrote; i suppose I feel somewhat badly for our friend, not because I had a similar experience (quite the contrary: I had a fantastic time at Belair...not at anyone's expense, all would agree) rather, it simply pains me to hear of people who had any sort of 'hardship'in their adolescence as I believe those are still, very much, formative years and very difficult to 'repair', as such. I just wish that so many people would not have responded to our friend in a it-happened-now-get-over-it manner or offer the I-was-part-of-this-group-but-inflicted-no-harm mentality. I can't be too critical of you and your gang of friends for reasons you yourself mention in 710, a reason very similar to that of why a retarded man would get, say, 5 years in jail for a certain crime and another man, with all his faculties, would get 20. But I've always believed that claiming ignorance, if the claim is valid, is punsihment enough.

My Dear Critic,
Maybe it was my error to not put a disclaimer stating that what I wrote was my humble opinion. Maybe, as is common with such, feelings and moods sometimes get misconstrued or misinterpreted; I was not writing a thesis, merely expressing concern for a fellow student. I re-read my little note several times, as it wasn’t written in haste, and whereas I knew there were bound to be criticisms I never once thought they would be violent. Diatribe? A little harsh I think. But then again, that is my humble opinion. :-) So, Mr. C. T., I do hope I have put your qualms at bay.

I'm still trying to find Suzette Evans so again if anyone has any info please help me out here.
To # 641,
It is not my intention to jump on the bandwagon to give you a hard time but I think that someone hit the nail on the head when they suggested that you take a deeper look at your past to find the source of your dilemma. I am concerned that after these many years you felt the need to get it all off your chest. While that is a step in the positive direction, have you exposed your vulnerability to anyone else? I mean do you have a friend or friends now that you confide in about those years that affected you so strongly? Anonymity has it's benefits but a good one on one soul baring is beneficial as well.
People are cruel, full-stop. It is human nature to laugh at a man who slips on a banana peel and then feel somber if there are injuries. I do not think that any person or group of persons set out in life to make your life a living hell; we are not terrorists after all. But each of us possess the inner need to be popular, and belong. Some have an aggressive approach, others do not. I was friends with these people you mentioned and I sincerely doubt that they were cognizant of the way their actions and words affected you, and if they had they would have been would be relatively remorseful. I specify relatively because we are talking about teenagers here.
Each person takes away from an experience what they will and we cannot dictate to you what you should have taken from life at Belair. However, I also doubt that ALL your memories are bad ones. There has to be at least one time that you can remember having a smile on your face, a teacher maybe giving you a word of encouragement, sharing a joke, having someone give you their ticket in the lunch line and have Millie look at you and ask you is how much food you one going to eat.
Belair was not and is not about friends that you did or did not make, it is about the overall experience. I fear that you have missed the forest for the tress and if that is the case my friend then you are in sad shape. I don’t know who you are, nonetheless, I wish you all the best that life has to offer and hope that you do take the time to think back and glean something positive from all the words you have received from this site.
Guidance and blessings,
Keisha.

I would really love to hear from the "no name" individual that composed message # 641. Since that person felted so compelled to identify me and the merry gang of Belair bandits (Cynthia, Wade, Roxanne, Candice)that "scarred" them for life. I saddens me to know that, in my adolescent years, I may have said and done things to hurt this person so bad that they experienced suicidal thought while in school and even worse, 10 years later, this person still feels the need to vent. Anyway, if venting via this site has helped ease this person's pain, then cool vibes.
Anyhow, to the Belair folks that did have a pleasant experience knowing me, please contact me! I would love to catch up on old time. To the rest of unnu, Sleggs House still run tings. Respect.

WOW I can't even imagine that I was class of 1989!
Time does fly. Mandeville & Belair seem like such a loooong time ago. I spent 1982-89 and there were some really good times. I still keep in touch with my old roomies. Gilly/Nats/Deso/Colls/Gail/Carrie (The Mrs. Shields crew)of course we all married with children now. I have a two year old so life is hectic. Been working with Air Jam 7 yrs now and run into many Belair peeps from time to time. Living in Miami. Kirk Lyn Haven't heard from you in a while. Stay in touch this site brought back lots of memories!

A third message for Andrew Jordine (class of '83?):
Just to let you know, I've now found my pencil sharpener. I've had it all these years after all.
It's broken, though.
Walk good, y'hear?
