Greetings to all from Ottawa, Canada. I can't believe that I actually scrolled through the entire Guest Book and even came across Junior looking for news on me, and lots of people wondering about my mom- Marguerite Bryson. In a nutshell - I am married (10 years)to a French chef, graduated from Acadia University with a degree in Painting, and have two amazing girls (6 and 9). Mom is still teaching with I think two more years to retirement. She is still an amazing teacher - you can find her at Aldergrove Community Senior High School in BC, Canada. She lives in White Rock, BC where she as close to the ocean as she can be. I remember so many of you who she taught - do you guys remember the Bio trip weekend when the styrofoam box full of fish for the science fair busted all over the minivan mom was driving?!?!
I would love to hear news on Judi Shaw, Junior Taylor, Valerie McCarthy and anyone else who remembers the Bryson trio.
Would love to attend the reunion, but doubt it's in the picture this time around. Maybe Andrew and I can send Mom.
Looking forward to some e-mails soon.

Caroline...I love your e-mail! Although I was only in attendance at Belair from Grade 10 until graduation, I have to agree. Belair and the people - the experiences, points of view and focuses are definately a big part of who I am today. I am thankful every day for my life there, as I realize how much I learned and experienced. I spent most of my growing up years abroad, but my years in Jamaica left me with the most enjoyable and treasured memories. I would like to take this chance to thank all of the people that were in my life then for helping me to be who I am now. Thank You.

Because of my time at Belair, I have been excitedly looking forward to the Reunion in 2003. My husband, stepdaughter (20) and stepson (17) will also all be attending. They have heard so much of my time there and can not wait to meet many of you. I must say that when I heard from Kevin Lilly, regarding Gregory, I went into total shock. His is a face that is very prominent in my memories of Jamaica...and was so looking forward to the chance to see him at the reunion. I still picture him in his little Triumph, with Kevin's tall body scrunched into the passenger's seat! What fun we all had and how he made me laugh. I will miss and remember him with the fondest of memories always.

I am living in Houston, Texas...so if any of you are near by...be in touch!! See everyone next summer!

Hello to ALL Belairites! :-)
My initial and lasting mood at the mention of BELAIR SCHOOL is 'great nostalgia'. I did my early childhood and prep school education there (1969-75), left to Manchester High for 4 years, then returned to Belair to complete high school (1979-81).
My memories of Belair are in reality the development of my LIFE - so many learning experiences, so many different points of view, so many varying focuses, so many people who - even if not my bossom-buddies - were the fabric of the life I experienced.
We, Belair-alumni, were priviledged to grow up in that 'small' community of Belair that encouraged personal development and provided the avenue for personal achievement.
Many of us were able (and often-times NEEDED) to be on a school team (sports, the arts, academic competitions) even with a bear minimum of talent and were able to blossom - if not in talent, but by the fact that we had a team/school depending on us to be there.
As a youngster there were some teachers 'I didn't like' because they challenged me to seek my outer perimeters rather than settle for my narrow comfort zone - but by the end of the school year I'd realize that they had always had my best interest at heart.
So many of you are in the pictures of my mind even if you were grades above or below me (even some Prepsters when I was in High School :-) I vividly remember many of my PrepSchool peers, but I long to see those of you from my 2 years of High School. :-)

Presently, I'm sadly missing Gregory Flether who passed away September 3, 2002. The Fletcher family was tightly woven in that fabric of my growing years - we lived in the same neighborhood (twice. :-) and Andrew and I moved to, away and back to Belair throughout 10 of my early years.
I was able to attend Gregory's funeral in Fairfield, Ohio with my mother and sisters, Denise and Diane. Carl Hendricks was also able to attend - and I know so many others of you would have liked to have been there, too. Though it was a truly sad occasion, it was really warming to see Mr.Fletcher and Andrew.
I am filled with thanksgiving to learn of Gregory's adult life - his family (wife, son and daughter), career (dentist), community service (Boy's Scout leader) and church-life (Childlife Minister/Mentor). I knew him as a child and he was so much more as an adult. :-)

Savour the memories, but let's try to keep in touch. I look forward to seeing so many more of you at the Belair Reunion 2003. :-) :-)

I presently live in Miramar, Florida with my husband, Richard Robinson (Prep School Alumnus) and our 3 daughters Alicia (18yrs), Melissa (16yrs) and Rachel (10yrs).
I L-O-V-E email, so drop me a line. :-)

Although the entrance was new (new to me) everything from the large athletic field along the road to the school building and the basketball courts in back were as I remembered them. I feel very bad for that person who had such bad experiences at school. I went to Belair in the 80's and had the best time. I'm a grown up now (sometimes)and I know that kids/teenagers can be very cruel and hurtful. Instead of berating this person for their feelings we should try and understand. Most of us have our own children in school and think how awful we feel when they are bullied or teased. I was very popular in school and had a lot of friends so I never experienced what they were experiencing but I can still feel compassion for someone who felt left out. To whoever you are that felt so hurt...I hope things are better for you now and as we say 'don pay dem no mind'.

Will Contain my Name for this one, thanks. ( no email) wrote:

I see that I was not the only one disturbed by the letter from "No Name." I suppose that I am bothered by this because I received an e-mail from an old Belair classmate that I found to be very bitter and negative about his time there. It made me wonder if this "No Name" was the same person that I had been conversing with. I certainly hope not.

I keep returning to the line "But not to worry, I came out fine." If this is the case, No Name, why must you drag these awful memories out to bring every one else down? Why must you share something that takes away the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for many of us?

Growing up is hard on everyone in all phases of our lives. Childhood, unfortunately is pretty tough because we are busy trying to impress our peers as well as ourselves. We are trying to do things that are "cool" and still stay within the boundaries of what we know is right or wrong. Our bodies are going through all kinds of changes and sometimes we handle that okay and sometimes we don't. There are so many factors to consider in life, that make people what and who they are. Those factors come from school, church, home and just life in general. I would like to think that you needed more than your life at school to screw up your life. If your life was so devistated by your life at school, I would think that your self-esteem was already weak from another source. Could that be, No Name?

I would ask, before you go accusing so many others for making your life miserable, that you consider all of the real factors. Consider your life away from school. Consider your very deepest childhood at home and your relationship with your family. That is usually where all of our problems began, and we never realize it. I might suggest that you seek help in this matter. I am not a doctor or counselor, by any means, but I think that you need to get to the root of your real problems.

Best wishes in finding true happiness. And you are right...happiness is not found in riches, it is found within yourself.

Why does the person who responded below take it upon himself to address himself to 'no name' unless he himself participated in the wrong-doing? Who the bloody hell do you think you are? If 'no name' writes of an offense, those who committed it either have matured enough to know a wrong was done or, like yourself, have experienced stunted development and try to deny what took place.
My memories of Belair are very pleasant, but I do recollect some 'bad apples' who, thanks be to God, I had the good fortune of staying away from. I suppose Mr 'No Name' did not have such good luck. I am happy to see, however, that he has not retained permament scarring.

If Belair was such a bad place for you, why are you visiting this site? What could these people have done to you to make it so bad? Any school you attend has a group of popular people. Are you saying that you were treated with disdane, disgust and generally in a bad manner? What does money have to do with this? I know for sure that one of the persons mentioned was not rich. Some parents sacrifice to send thier children there. What exactly is your point? Teenagers are not adults and they make mistakes and learn while growing. I am baffled at what it is that these students could have done to make you suicidal. Are you sure there were'nt other things going on in your life at the time??

i enjoyed some of my years at Belair. But however I found out here that things scar you for life. People like, Roxanne Shields,Damion Johnson,Simon Ince, Cynthia Lopez, Wade Jerimiah, Candice Bourne and many more of you from that crew You know yourselves, the ones who were oh so popular. who were so caught up in your selves that you did not realise that someone elses life was being destroyed,My Memories of this school were suicidal. You all Scarred me for life. But not to worry I came out fine. I hope that your lives that were so much fun at Belair has paid off for you all. I hope that when you were having Fun you realised that this person here had no life there as a child. I cant even remember wanting to talk to anyone now.
I hope what you all did to me was worth it.
But then I realised now that we are all grown up and need to get over these Childhood woes. I have moved a bit past it. But however I hope in life as we come up against diverse personality types that we realise that the words we say now may be the words that hurt forever, and they are also the words that can make or break a person.
I want to however say that we need to grow our children in such a way thatthey look past the privalages that we all had. And the privalages that our children will have, and treat people in a kind way, realising that the words we say may come back to haunt you one day. We need to look to the future, when we speak and interact. Realising that the man you step on today may be the man you need to ask a favor from tommorrow.
These words are not only for that crew of persons. But to all who will read this. Not because we are all in a position to afford more than the average man, means that we need to treat people with disdane, disgust and generally in a bad manner. Riches are nothing if your fellow man is emotionally poor.
Thanks for reading this and take some good advice from a student who was a victim of meaness in School there at Belair. Mind you I am no longer a victim. I have moved away from that.
To all those names I mentioned I wish you all the best and I wish for your children great days at school.

Was this heaven? I still sometimes wonder if it was all a dream. I was in Jamaica with my parents, my two brothers, Steven and David, and my grandmother from 1970 to 1973. We moved to Maryland in my senior year(74) much to my dissmay. I now live in Missouri with my wonderful husband, Chris, and two girls-Alexandra and Julia. Lately, the girls have been pouring over by old Belair Yearbooks (I was on the yrbk staff with Mr. Locke) and they always want to hear stories of Jamaica!!
